Description

Electric Soul presents a 1965 Gibson Melody Maker 3/4 guitar.

This is a very interesting vintage guitar and probably one of the most affordable ways to own a real vintage Gibson solid-body guitar. Most 1960s Gibson models, such as Les Pauls and SGs, are very expensive. Classic models like a 1968 Les Paul Custom cost a fortune. If you dream of owning a guitar from that era but have a limited budget, you need to look at less common models. The small Melody Maker is one of them. If you like vintage gear and unique guitars, this is a great option.

The guitar may look small and a little unusual, but it has a surprisingly authentic vintage sound. It has the warm, smooth character that many old guitars have and that is often missing from modern instruments. I do not want to exaggerate, but once you play it, you will understand. It is also very simple and easy to use: a mahogany body, one pickup, two knobs, and no unnecessary extras. It is also worth mentioning that the fingerboard is most likely made from Brazilian rosewood, which was still commonly used by Gibson at that time.

The guitar has several modifications. The original bridge pickup has been replaced with a vintage-style PAF pickup inspired by 1950s and 1960s designs. I do not know exactly what model it is (see photos), but both its build quality and sound are excellent. In my opinion, it suits this guitar perfectly and gives it a slightly more Les Paul-like character. The tuners and bridge have also been replaced. Both work very well and match the guitar nicely.

The guitar looks like it was discovered in the attic of an old American barn. It has natural wear, including scratches, dents, and checking in the nitro finish. All of these marks are genuine signs of age. If you like vintage-looking instruments, you will love it. In my opinion, it looks better than many factory-aged guitars.

Despite its rock-and-roll appearance, the guitar is in excellent playing condition. The neck geometry is good, the frets are in good shape, and the guitar has never had any breaks or cracks. It is properly set up and a pleasure to play. It is also priced lower than most modern mid-range Gibson guitars, making it an attractive option for players who appreciate unusual instruments and vintage models.

The guitar comes with its original case. The case is quite worn and no longer has a handle. It is one of the simple cardboard-style cases that originally came with lower-priced guitars, so it should not be considered serious protection for the instrument. However, it has historical value and it is great that it is still included.

Weight: 2.6 kg (5.7 lbs)
